Nothing makes me feel the holiday season quite like watching Christmas movies. I can’t not get into the spirit when I’m curled up watching dancing elves singing Christmas carols. And so I share with you my top 5 favorite Christmas movies of all time:
My absolute favorite movie to watch Angela Landsbury in. It was a made for TV movie so I don’t know how hard it is to get your hands on it. I watch a version I taped on my VHS back when I was 10 or 11 but it usually airs around Christmas time so you should definitely check it out.
2. A Christmas Carol
(In all its forms)
My personal favorite is the 1984 George C. Scott version. But the Muppets one is also excellent if you’re looking for something less traditional. And I’ve also heard excellent things about the Ducktales one. The story is such a great one so I love seeing it retold in different ways.
3. Home Alone
Both 1 and 2 are absolutely excellent. You can’t help but laugh out loud with all shenanigans a little kid can get himself into. And the hilarious ideas he comes up with to thwart the bad guys are the best. Can’t be missed!
Now, I must admit, I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews on this one but I absolutely adore it. It’s the perfect blend between super Christmasy and general everyday appeal. The characters interact so well and there are some really funny moments. Definitely give it a try!
5. Love Actually
Such an entertaining and heart warming seasonal movie! The performances are spectacular and the story lines are really unique. By far my favorite modern Christmas movie!
When it comes down to it I will watch absolutely any Christmas movie but these are just some of my all time favorites. Stay tuned for next week when I will share some of the best Christmas TV specials…because there are a lot of them! If you have any Christmas movie recommendations – please share! I am always on the hunt for more holly jolly movies!
